Rucha's known for her work with acclaimed Indian filmmaker Nagesh Kukunoor. As Assistant Director and Art Director she was instrumental in delivering indie hits such as Hyderabad Blues, Rockford and Bollywood Calling. Hyderabad Blues won the Audience Award for best film at the Peach Tree Film Festival, Atlanta and Rhode Island Film Festival.
Rucha's written and directed a short film Arranged Marriage, which screened at the San Francisco 3rd i Asian Film Festival and White Sands Film Festival in 2012. She will be directing a feature film For Here Or To Go? in July 2013. She lives in San Francisco, California and is very excited to be part of the San Francisco/Bay area filmmaking community.
Rucha's attended the San Francisco School of Digital Filmmaking and also has a Master's in Design from Carnegie Mellon University. She worked as a Lead Interaction Designer at eBay and StubHub.
For Here Or To Go? - Feature Film (July 2013)
Rucha will be directing "For Here or To Go?" a comedy drama set in San Francisco/Bay Area and Mumbai. It's a heartfelt and humorous portrayal of the lives of Indian immigrants in the Silicon Valley. It's a story of ambition and ambivalence, fueled by one's immigration status, that characterizes the dilemma of modern cultural displacement.

Synopsis
Shveta born and raised in the U.S is independent, carefree and a successful lawyer. She believes in making her own choices. Her traditional Indian parents wish for her to marry an Indian boy of their choice. They don’t understand Shveta's need to find a path to love. They persuade her to meet Vivek, a recent immigrant from India. Shveta is frustrated and attempts to sabotage her first date with Vivek, but as she gets to know him, her feelings start to change.
